For Your Safety
Code of Conduct for Riders
Riders have responsibilities, too. In order to protect the rights of the driver and passengers and to guarantee the safe operation of vehicles, all passengers must follow the Code of Conduct.
Fare is fair
Valid and correct fare is required.
A valid ticket, pass or transfer receipt is required on The Bus. Pay your fare or show your pass every time you board.
Take a stand
Move for seniors and people with disabilities.
In the priority seating area by the door, you are required to move for seniors and people with disabilities. They need that seat more than you do. (It's okay to use this area as long as it is not occupied or needed.)
Keep your cool
Don't threaten or intimidate riders or operators.
It's unlawful to threaten the safety of a rider or operator, or interfere with the movement of a bus. Please follow the driver's instructions and respect others.
Do not disturb
Don't be so loud that you disturb others.
Everyone deserves a comfortable ride. Excessive noise is not allowed on The Bus. Please speak and use headphones at a reasonable level.
No swearing
No shouting, swearing or making inappropriate gestures.
Make way
Don't block the aisles or doors.
If you have a bag or other item, make sure it's not blocking the aisle or doorway. Strollers must be folded after boarding. If you are standing, move back so others can board.
Kids on the bus
Keep them safe.
Children must be out of strollers and in the care of a responsible adult. Children must be either seated on a lap or in the seat next to an adult.
Pet boarding
If you bring a pet, keep it in a closed carrier.
Unless it's a service animal, your pet must be kept in a carrier.
Lunchtime
Keep food and drinks in closed containers.
Eating is not allowed on The Bus. Drinks should be in closed containers.
Alcohol and Drugs are Prohibited on The Bus
No smoking
Smoking is prohibited on buses, and where posted at bus shelters. If you smoke, be considerate of your fellow riders by moving away from the shelter or bus stop sign.
Weapons
Firearms are permitted on KGB Transit buses, but they must be either carried in compliance with applicable State laws for carrying a concealed weapon, or be unloaded and in a case.
