No School Special Swims


Bring the family and join the fun with these special $1 swims held on days when students are out of school.

Parent Teachers Conferences: March 8th ~ 1:15-2:45 pm

Extra Early Release: April 26th ~ 1:15-2:45 pm

Junior Lifeguarding

The American Red Cross (ARC) Junior Lifeguarding
program is designed to guide youths ages 11-14 through the ARC Lifeguarding course. The course focuses on building a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills of future lifeguards. 


* able to swim 25 yards front crawl & breaststroke

* Must pass the Water Competency Sequence

1. Step into the water from the side and totally submerge.

2. Maintain position for one minute by treading water or floating (or a combination of the two).

3. Rotate one full turn and orient to the exit.

4. Level off and swim on the front or back 25 yards.

5. Exit without using a ladder or steps.

WHEN: March 11th-15th Mon-Fri 9:00 am-3:30 pm (30 Minute Lunch Break - pack a lunch)

FEE: $99 per session  AGES: 11-14 years


Spring Break Open Swim Fun 


We have lots of fun for everyone in the family! Bring the whole family to the Gateway Aquatic Center for a dose of water fun with our Spring Break Open Swims ($4 per person - 1 & under free)!

March 11th-15th ~ 1:15 - 2:45 pm

Easter Egg Splash

Grab your swimsuit and towel to join us for a "splashing" good time during this unique Easter Egg Splash. Assorted plastic eggs will be floating and sinking to the bottom of the pool! Lots of fun and a goodie bag at the end of the splash for each participant!

WHEN: Friday 3/29, 5:30-6:00 PM, 6:15-6:45 PM OR 7:00-7:30 PM
WHERE: Gateway Aquatic Center
FEE: $8 per participant
AGES: 0-12 years (Parents MUST accompany children under 6 years INTO the pool)

Pre-register at Ketchikan.recdesk.com, or the front desk.
May register at the event if space is still available.


  • Limited amount of participants per time frame
  • Lifeguards will be on duty
  • Participants under 6 years of age MUST have a parent/guardian accompany them into the pool
  • All participants must have a parent/guardian present to participate
  • No floatation devices allowed during the event
  • Don’t forget your swim attire & towel!
