Conditional Use Permit

A conditional use permit is a device which gives flexibility to the zoning ordinance in a uniform and controlled manner. It permits inclusion, in zones where it is permitted by the zoning ordinance, of uses which are basically desirable to the community, but where the nature of the use will not permit its location at every location in the said zones without restrictions and conditions designed to fit the special problems which the use presents. A conditional use permit allows a land owner to put his/her property to a use which the zoning ordinance expressly permits; it does not allow a land owner to use his/her property in a manner forbidden by the zoning ordinance.
