Judo is a martial art that evolved from jiu-jitsu in Japan in the late 1800s. Meaning “the gentle way,” it focuses on technique, balance, and using an opponent’s energy.
Techniques include throws, hold-downs, chokes, and arm-locks. Judo has been an Olympic sport since 1964 and offers benefits for self-defense, fitness, focus, and fun—making it a lifelong sport for all ages.
